Located in a rustic 19th century building
which served as a lock tender’s house on the Morris Canal, the Museum
offers an entertaining and enlightening look at the history of
New Jersey’s largest
lake. The Museum is designed to bring visitors back to an era when Lake
Hopatcong was a major northeastern resort and some 40 hotels and rooming
houses graced its shores. From celebrities to castles to amusement
parks, Lake Hopatcong had it all. The Museum is located on the grounds
of Hopatcong State Park in Landing, just off of Route 80 West at exit
28. Admission is free.
